Authorities have announced plans to launch an electric bus service in Multan Division to provide modern, safe, and environmentally friendly public transportation. Ahead of the launch, the government will construct modern bus shelters across the division to support the new fleet. A total of 114 electric buses are planned, complemented by 470 bus shelters.

In the first phase, 45 electric buses will operate on three routes in Multan, followed by the addition of 24 buses on five more routes in the second phase. The government has completed the tendering process for 49 bus shelters in Multan City and 87 shelters in the Saddar area.

The project also extends to other districts in the division. Authorities will build 136 bus shelters to serve 15 electric buses in Khanewal, 64 shelters for 10 buses in Vehari, and 134 shelters for 15 buses in Lodhran, where the tendering process is currently underway.

Multan Division Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan directed all concerned departments to ensure quality, transparency, and timely completion of bus shelters before the launch of the electric bus service.
