Changan is reportedly preparing to launch an all-new electric compact SUV, the AVATR 11, which could bring a strong combination of advanced technology, long-range capability, and high performance to the EV market. AVATR is a premium sub-brand of Changan created in partnership with Huawei and CATL, the world-leading battery manufacturer, aiming to offer innovative features and top-tier specifications. The AVATR 11 will feature a notably large 116.79 kWh battery pack, giving it an estimated WLTP range of around 668 km, enough to cover long distances such as a one-way trip between Lahore and Islamabad on a single charge. The base trim is expected to deliver 317 hp and 396 Nm of torque, while a dual-motor variant could produce 539 hp and 687 Nm, making it a high-performance option in the compact SUV category. Huawei’s involvement brings advanced technology integration, with the vehicle running on HarmonyOS and built on the DriveONE iTRACK 800-volt EV platform. The AVATR 11 is expected to include a Level 3 ADAS system with 12 laser radars, 5G connectivity, and a comprehensive suite of modern features commonly found in premium Chinese EVs. While official pricing has not been announced, the AVATR 11 is anticipated to compete in the upper segment of the market. Although it will not be inexpensive, it is likely to be more competitively priced compared to German and Japanese rivals, consistent with the strategy of Chinese automakers to combine advanced technology and affordability. With its long-range battery, high-end technology, and strong performance, the AVATR 11 could become one of the most ambitious Chinese electric SUVs to reach the market if Changan moves forward with a local launch.
