ALEKTRA has entered Pakistan’s automotive market with a budget-friendly electric vehicle that aims to make EV ownership accessible to the masses, introducing a compact quadricycle priced at Rs. 10.45 million. The launch has drawn attention from motorists looking for an affordable alternative to conventional fuel-powered vehicles, especially at a time of rising petrol prices and high maintenance costs. Despite its low price, the vehicle is offered as a brand-new option and comes with a two-year warranty on both the motor and battery, a feature rarely seen in this price bracket. Technically classified as a quadricycle, the EV is smaller than entry-level hatchbacks such as the Suzuki Alto, but it provides the basic comfort and protection of a four-wheeled vehicle. It features seating for four passengers, a fully enclosed cabin, air-conditioning with both cooling and heating, a basic infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, and essential driving functions designed for short urban commutes. The vehicle is designed primarily for point-to-point mobility, offering a safer and more comfortable alternative to motorcycles. While ALEKTRA does not manufacture the vehicle locally, the company imports and white-labels a Chinese-made electric quadricycle commonly sold through international platforms. ALEKTRA then brands it for the Pakistani market and provides official sales support, after-sales service, and warranty coverage, addressing concerns often associated with grey-market imports. Internationally, similar quadricycles have gained popularity and visibility, with reviews from well-known automotive content creators highlighting their practicality and novelty. In real-world use, the ALEKTRA EV is intended for city driving, short commutes, and low-speed travel, prioritizing affordability and efficiency over performance. The two-door electric quadricycle measures 2450 mm in length, 1250 mm in width, and 1650 mm in height. It is powered by an electric drivetrain producing 2.68 horsepower and is available with multiple lithium battery options, including 7.2 kWh, 10.8 kWh, and 12.96 kWh. Depending on the selected battery, the driving range varies from 80 to 100 kilometers, 130 to 150 kilometers, or up to 160 to 180 kilometers on a single charge. Charging is done through a standard 220V AC household outlet, with a full charge taking approximately five to seven hours. The vehicle has a top speed of around 45 to 50 kilometers per hour and uses a simple gear selector with reverse, neutral, and drive modes. Standard features include alloy rims, a reverse camera, remote start, an anti-theft alarm system, and multiple exterior color options such as white, cream, pink, yellow, red, and blue. These features are designed to enhance daily usability while keeping running costs minimal. At this price point, buyers may also consider used options such as an older Suzuki Mehran, typically from the 2013–2014 model years. However, the appeal of the ALEKTRA EV lies in its extremely low operating cost, minimal maintenance requirements, and the peace of mind offered by a factory warranty. In contrast, an older petrol car may come with higher fuel expenses, no warranty coverage, and the likelihood of mechanical or cosmetic issues due to age. Ultimately, the choice depends on individual needs and expectations. The ALEKTRA electric quadricycle is best suited for urban users seeking an economical, simple, and environmentally friendly mode of transport, while conventional used cars may still appeal to those needing higher speeds or longer-distance travel. The vehicle is currently available for booking and test drives at ALEKTRA’s showroom located at Liberty’s Parking Plaza, front side, with deliveries expected within approximately 90 days of booking.
