Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the Canadian High Commission have agreed to take joint measures to enhance aerial connectivity between Pakistan and Canada, according to a PIA spokesperson. The announcement followed a meeting in Karachi between PIA Chief Executive Officer Amir Hyat and the Canadian High Commissioner. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations, trade, and cultural exchange, and reached a preliminary agreement to increase investment and strengthen cultural cooperation. The PIA CEO confirmed plans for a code-share and cargo agreement with Canadian airlines, which is expected to boost trade volume and expand aerial contact between the two countries. Under the agreements, PIA will facilitate access for Canadian products to Pakistani markets, while also exploring opportunities for improved access to the North American market. Both parties agreed to jointly promote trade and tourism, with the Canadian High Commission providing support for PIA in establishing code-share agreements to extend its network. The PIA spokesperson noted that these agreements will play a key role in supporting the airline’s restoration and growth, while enhancing connectivity and commercial cooperation between Pakistan and Canada.
