Lahore to Launch Its First-Ever Floating Restaurant: What Visitors Can Expect

Lahore is set to welcome its first-ever floating restaurant as construction progresses near Jallo Mor on a canal stretch being redesigned to offer a complete waterfront dining and recreational experience. The project aims to transform the area into a modern leisure destination where visitors can enjoy food, scenic views, and entertainment in a single location.

The centerpiece of the project is a multi-storey, ship-style floating restaurant designed to provide a unique dining experience with open-air vibes and canal views, creating a destination-style atmosphere rather than a typical roadside eatery. Heavy machinery has been deployed, and the canal water has been temporarily halted to allow excavation and structural groundwork to proceed smoothly. The canal itself is being modified for safety and stability, with plans to increase its depth to 13 feet, expand the width to 30 feet, and develop the surrounding area across a one-kilometre stretch, ensuring the floating facility and infrastructure function securely.

Beyond dining, the project includes upgrades to the canal-side environment. Modern lighting will enhance the area at night, and nearby green spaces are being transformed into family-friendly picnic spots, turning the location into a full recreational destination. Live entertainment, including cultural performances and music, is planned both on the floating restaurant and along the canal-side, adding to the venue’s appeal. Authorities anticipate completion within the year, although the timeline will depend on construction progress, safety requirements, and final operational approvals.
