The Punjab Land Records Authority has made it mandatory to include the buyer’s name and CNIC number on the Fard Baraye Bay, a key legal document used in property transactions, to enhance transparency and prevent fraud across the province. The new requirement ensures that every Fard Baraye Bay issued for sale clearly identifies the intended buyer, reducing the risk of duplication, forgery, and misuse. Under the updated policy, the buyer’s CNIC-linked details will be recorded from the outset, creating a secure digital trail and strengthening investor protection. The measure also aims to limit paper-based manipulation and reduce the influence of the traditional patwari system in land dealings. The PLRA stated that the reform will enable online verification of the document through the Punjab Land Records Portal, making property transactions more reliable and citizen-friendly. The Punjab government said this step is part of its broader initiative to modernize land records and protect individuals from fraud during the buying and selling of property. Fard Baraye Bay serves as a legal document confirming land ownership, verifying that the property is free from disputes and eligible for transfer to the buyer. Go back |
