OGDCL has entered into a significant agreement with the French company SNF S.A. to install advanced water injection systems at its Kunnar and Pasakhi oil fields, a project expected to generate an estimated $460 million in additional revenue. The initiative aims to boost production by adding approximately 9 million barrels of oil and 3 billion cubic feet of gas over the lifetime of the fields, while improving the recovery factor by 8 to 10 percent to allow more efficient extraction from existing reservoirs.

The project will be executed in three phases. The first phase involves installation and commissioning over nine months, followed by a two-year operations and maintenance period during which technical support and training will be provided to OGDCL staff. After this period, operational control will be handed over to OGDCL, enabling the company to run the system independently. The facilities are designed with a projected operational lifespan of around 20 years.

The agreement was signed in Islamabad in the presence of Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik, OGDCL Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak, French Ambassador Nicolas Galey, and senior officials from both organizations. This project forms part of broader efforts to enhance production efficiency and maximize output from existing oil and gas fields using modern technology.
