Chery has recently introduced the Tiggo 9 C-DM, a plug-in hybrid version of its mid-to-large SUV, in the Chinese market. This model marks the brand’s entry into the hybrid SUV segment under the Tiggo 9 lineup and is anticipated to arrive in Pakistan soon, although official confirmation is still pending.
The Tiggo 9 C-DM is engineered with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a front-mounted electric motor and a three-speed hybrid transmission. This powertrain is designed to optimize both performance and fuel efficiency by intelligently switching between electric and petrol modes. It is equipped with a 19.43 kWh lithium battery that supports fast charging and offers a practical electric-only range suitable for daily urban driving. With the combined capacity of the battery and fuel tank, the vehicle can travel over 1,400 kilometers under WLTC standards, catering to drivers who prioritize long-distance usability without the limitations of frequent refueling.
In addition to the hybrid model, Chery has refreshed the standard Tiggo 9 with upgraded interior features and technology to maintain its competitiveness in the evolving SUV market. The standard model retains its 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and now includes enhancements that improve comfort and convenience without altering its core mechanical setup.
Chery has also launched the Tiggo 9X, a more budget-friendly variant that simplifies the design and trims down on features while preserving the Tiggo 9’s exterior styling. This version targets buyers seeking an affordable SUV with the same visual appeal as the higher trims.
In terms of pricing in China, the Tiggo 9X is offered at CNY 147,900, approximately PKR 5.84 million. The standard Tiggo 9 is priced at CNY 152,900, around PKR 6.04 million, while the plug-in hybrid Tiggo 9 C-DM is listed at CNY 165,900, equivalent to about PKR 6.55 million. These prices apply to the Chinese domestic market, and any right-hand-drive or export variants for markets like Pakistan may vary depending on configuration and import costs.
Currently, the Tiggo 9 C-DM remains exclusive to China. However, updates from Chery Pakistan are expected in the coming weeks, potentially clarifying whether the hybrid SUV will be launched locally.
