Today, Pakistan solemnly remembers Flying Officer Marium Mukhtiar on the 10th anniversary of her martyrdom, honoring the nation’s first female fighter pilot. On 24th November 2015, during a routine training mission with her instructor, Squadron Leader Saqib Abbasi, her aircraft suffered a technical malfunction and tragically crashed near Kundian in Bhakra, Mianwali. Marium Mukhtiar’s dedication, skill, and bravery broke barriers in Pakistan’s Air Force, inspiring generations of women to pursue careers in aviation and defense. In recognition of her extraordinary courage and selfless service, the Government of Pakistan posthumously awarded her the Tamgha-e-Basalat on 23rd March 2016, one of the country’s highest honors for valor. Her legacy continues to symbolize resilience, patriotism, and the pioneering spirit of Pakistani women in uniform. Go back |
