The Pakistan Navy has successfully carried out a Live Weapon Firing of the FM-90 (N) ER surface-to-air missile in the North Arabian Sea, demonstrating a high level of combat readiness and operational capability, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations. The exercise involved a naval warship accurately engaging and neutralising fast-moving and highly agile aerial targets, validating the effectiveness of the missile system and the crew’s operational proficiency. The live firing showcased the Pakistan Navy’s ability to respond swiftly and decisively to aerial threats in a challenging maritime environment. Military officials stated that the successful engagement reaffirmed the Navy’s preparedness to defend Pakistan’s maritime borders and protect vital sea lanes. The exercise also highlighted the integration of modern weapons, sensors, and command systems that enable the Navy to counter evolving security challenges in the region. Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, observed the demonstration firsthand and praised the officers and sailors for their professionalism, technical competence, and disciplined execution of the exercise. He reiterated the Pakistan Navy’s firm commitment to maintaining a robust maritime defence posture and ensuring the security of national maritime interests under all circumstances. ISPR emphasised that the successful missile firing reflects the Pakistan Navy’s continued focus on modernisation and operational excellence. The Navy, it said, remains fully prepared at all times to safeguard Pakistan’s coastline, offshore assets, and maritime trade routes against conventional and unconventional threats. Earlier, on November 25, the Pakistan Navy had also successfully conducted a test flight of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile. According to ISPR, the advanced weapon system is capable of engaging both sea and ground targets with high precision and is equipped with state-of-the-art guidance and advanced manoeuvrability features. The test was witnessed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists and engineers. The successful demonstrations of both the surface-to-air missile and the anti-ship ballistic missile underscore Pakistan’s growing technological capabilities and the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering resolve to strengthen its defence systems in line with modern warfare requirements.
