A joint report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and FAFEN evaluated public schools across Punjab using multiple education and infrastructure indicators, including enrollment rates, exam results, access to clean drinking water, electricity, and other essential facilities. The assessment revealed Rahim Yar Khan as one of the lowest-performing districts, ranking among the bottom three in the province and recording one of the lowest literacy rates alongside Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.

In contrast, Lahore showed notable improvement, with education facilities and services available at around 80 percent, earning it the fifth position among Punjab districts. The findings highlight progress in major urban centres while emphasizing the need for targeted reforms to address challenges in underdeveloped areas and improve education quality and infrastructure.
