Punjab Education Department Enforces Strict New School Security Plan with Mandatory Bag Checks and CCTV Surveillance

The Punjab Education Department has introduced a comprehensive security plan for all public and private schools across the province, aiming to safeguard students, teachers, and staff amid growing concerns over school safety. A key feature of this initiative is the mandatory daily inspection of students’ school bags by the administration. This measure is designed to prevent any prohibited, dangerous, or suspicious items from entering school premises.

The plan also requires the installation of fully operational CCTV cameras throughout campuses, including in classrooms, corridors, and entry points. This surveillance system is intended to provide constant monitoring and serve as evidence in the event of any security breach. Metal detectors must be installed at all school entrances and exits to identify any metallic or weapon-like objects before they enter the school environment.

In line with stricter safety protocols, a complete ban has been imposed on carrying any kind of weapons or sharp objects within school grounds. This includes pistols, knives, blades, and even common tools like scissors. The ban applies to both students and staff, reinforcing the zero-tolerance approach to potential threats.

Security alarms have also been made mandatory, providing a quick-response mechanism in case of emergencies or suspicious activity. Schools are further instructed to conduct regular training sessions for staff and security personnel, focusing on emergency protocols, threat response, and evacuation procedures. In addition, awareness sessions will be held for students to educate them on the importance of following safety guidelines and reporting anything unusual.

Each school is required to maintain close coordination with local police and district education authorities to report concerns or incidents immediately. The department has made it clear that student safety is a top priority, and any school found failing to comply with the new directives will face serious penalties, including administrative action.

This enhanced security plan reflects the government’s commitment to creating a safer educational environment across Punjab, aiming to restore confidence among parents and ensure a secure space for learning and development.
