Mahira Khan has once again shown that she is unafraid to voice her thoughts, especially when it comes to issues involving her country. While promoting her upcoming film Neelofar alongside Fawad Khan, the actor reflected on how she felt during the India–Pakistan conflict earlier this year. She explained that despite having a large and supportive fan base in India, her emotional response at the time came from a place of deep loyalty to Pakistan. During an appearance on Hum News, Mahira said she appreciates her fans across borders, including those in India, but stressed that the bond with one’s homeland is incomparable. She described the moment as highly emotional, explaining that she reacted instinctively and without calculating how her words might affect her reputation. She added that she usually avoids commenting on political tensions, but in that specific situation, remaining silent felt impossible. Mahira acknowledged that some Indian fans might have felt hurt, but clarified that her criticism was directed at the Indian government and its policies, not at ordinary people who support her work. She emphasised that her stance came from a place of honesty and personal conviction rather than hostility toward individuals. In her earlier statement from May, shared through an Instagram post, Mahira expressed gratitude for living in a country where she has the freedom to speak her mind. She wrote that Pakistanis speak up against injustices within their own borders and condemn violence wherever it occurs, including when Pakistan is accused without evidence. She criticised what she described as India’s escalating rhetoric of war and hate, saying she had seen the hostility firsthand. She went on to accuse Indian media of fueling division and pointed out that many influential voices in India remain silent despite alleged human rights violations, a silence she attributed to fear rather than law. Mahira’s message condemned attacks carried out at night and questioned how such actions could be framed as victories. She expressed disappointment and called it a shameful display of aggression. The actor voiced unwavering support for Pakistan, praying that her country continues to uphold moral principles and never resorts to similar tactics despite provocation. She ended her message with a reaffirmation of her love for Pakistan and a prayer for wisdom and strength for the nation. Go back |
