The Balochistan government is set to launch a major health insurance scheme for public sector employees, with Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announcing the official rollout during a high-level review meeting in Quetta. The program, scheduled to launch on March 7, 2026, will provide each government employee with medical coverage of up to Rs1 million at leading hospitals across Pakistan.
The review meeting assessed progress on the health insurance scheme and ongoing rehabilitation work at Civil Hospital Quetta and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital. Senior provincial officials from the health, finance, and planning departments attended, while Health Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panezai briefed participants on the implementation framework.
CM Bugti emphasized that the initiative aims to reduce financial burdens on employees and ensure timely access to quality healthcare. He also instructed the Health Department to expedite rehabilitation efforts at the two major hospitals and establish a dedicated mechanism to oversee restoration, highlighting the province’s focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure. Provincial authorities reaffirmed their commitment to improving medical services and expanding healthcare access for government employees.
