The Punjab government has officially begun connecting public hospitals to the Safe City surveillance network to boost security and enable real-time monitoring across healthcare facilities.
In the initial phase, ten major hospitals in Lahore, including Ganga Ram Hospital, Lady Aitchison Hospital, General Hospital, Mian Munshi Hospital, and Nawaz Sharif Hospital, have been integrated into the system. So far, more than 35 hospitals across Punjab have joined the Safe City network, with facilities in Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala being added in phases.
Advanced cameras have been installed at emergency wards, entry and exit points, and indoor and outdoor departments to ensure continuous surveillance. Officials say the system will allow for rapid response during emergencies and improve overall safety for patients, attendants, and medical staff.
In upcoming phases, the Punjab government plans to link all public hospitals in the province to the Smart Safe City system, further enhancing security and operational management.
