The first national anti-polio campaign of 2026 in Pakistan has been successfully completed, with over 44.3 million children receiving the polio vaccine, according to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC). The campaign covered all regions of the country, with Punjab vaccinating 22.9 million children, Sindh 1.05 million, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 7.13 million, Balochistan 2.363 million, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 673,000, Gilgit Baltistan 261,000, and Islamabad 455,000 children.
Over 400,000 anti-polio workers and security personnel participated in door-to-door vaccination efforts, ensuring that every child under five years of age received the vaccine. The NEOC acknowledged the dedication and cooperation of all workers involved, describing them as national heroes. This campaign was conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan, reflecting a coordinated regional effort to eliminate polio and protect children from this crippling disease.
