The CRG Research Training Program 2026 in Spain offers a fully funded opportunity for highly motivated undergraduate and master’s students from around the world to gain hands-on research experience at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). The program is designed to support students pursuing scientific careers by providing exposure to cutting-edge research in an international laboratory environment, enhancing both technical skills and academic knowledge. Participants join CRG’s diverse research teams and benefit from first-class core technologies, seminars by high-profile speakers, and courses on complementary and transferable skills.

The program welcomes Master’s and Bachelor’s students throughout the year, offering ten fellowship opportunities across various research projects. Each fellowship remains open until a suitable candidate is selected, allowing students to join a vibrant scientific community and contribute to impactful research. Selected participants receive a monthly compensation of 600€ gross for up to five months and a return airfare covering up to 800€ for non-European flights or 300€ for European flights. This support ensures students can focus fully on their research experience in Spain while gaining international exposure.

Eligible candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field and be pursuing a master’s degree in the same areas. Applicants should have experience in at least one of the following fields: phylogenetics, proteomics, genomics, or biochemistry, along with basic molecular biology skills, an understanding of chromatin and evolution, and proficiency in R, Python, or Perl. Additional desirable skills include experience in omics data generation, sterile culturing, and working with HPC clusters. The fellowship is open only to new recruits and must take place within the 2025/2026 academic year.

Participants in the CRG Research Training Program 2026 gain access to seminars delivered by leading scientists, opportunities to work on high-impact research projects, and hands-on experience in state-of-the-art laboratories. The program helps students strengthen their academic and professional skills while fostering collaboration in an international research environment. Required application documents include a motivation letter, curriculum vitae, reference letter, and university transcripts.

Applications are submitted online through the official CRG website, where applicants must complete the application form, attach all required documents, and review eligibility criteria. Prospective participants may contact project supervisors or group leaders if needed. The deadline for applications has not been specified yet. This program offers a unique opportunity for students seeking research experience in Spain, exposure to international scientific networks, and professional development in genomics and molecular biology.
