The Salzburg Global Communications Internship 2026 in Austria is now accepting applications, offering an exceptional opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience in journalism, communications, public relations, and digital marketing. Hosted by Salzburg Global, an independent non-profit organization, the internship allows participants to work closely with global leaders, enhance professional skills, and contribute to impactful projects that showcase the organization’s programs.

This full-time internship lasts up to three months and places interns within the communications team, where they will support content creation, storytelling, and media outreach across websites, printed publications, social media platforms, and partnerships with external media outlets. Interns gain hands-on experience in a nonprofit communications setting, building versatile skills beyond traditional journalism and learning to manage diverse communication projects.

The internship offers multiple start dates throughout the year, including mid-March, early April, late June, early September, and late September, providing flexibility for applicants. While the internship is unpaid, selected candidates receive full board and lodging at the historic Schloss Leopoldskron, along with a round-trip flight from their home country to Austria, creating a supportive environment for both professional and personal growth.

Applicants should have recently completed or be in the process of completing a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or digital marketing. Candidates without a formal journalism background may qualify if they have significant writing or content-production experience, such as through college newspapers or internships with media agencies. Prior experience in producing written and multimedia content is essential, along with strong English writing, editing, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop, are highly preferred, and experience with website content management systems and multimedia editing is advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate a proactive mindset, the ability to multitask, flexibility, enthusiasm for the organization’s mission, and comfort working in multicultural professional settings. Knowledge of German is not required.

Interns will benefit from hands-on training in writing, editing, storytelling, multimedia production, and digital communications, while also gaining the opportunity to network with international experts and professionals in the field. The program provides full-time professional experience, accommodation, meals, and airfare, allowing participants to focus on skill development and career growth. The internship fosters a deep understanding of nonprofit communications, international media practices, and global program outreach.

Applicants must submit an updated CV and cover letter detailing relevant experience and motivation. The application process is conducted online, and selected candidates may be interviewed as part of the selection. The application deadline for the Salzburg Global Communications Internship 2026 is December 1, 2025. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain international experience, develop professional communications skills, and contribute to meaningful projects in a dynamic and multicultural environment in Europe.
