KYOTO University Launches Fully Funded Amgen Scholars Internship 2026 for Aspiring Researchers

Applications are now open for the KYOTO University Amgen Scholars Internship 2026, a fully funded international research program organized in collaboration with the Amgen Foundation. The program is designed to support undergraduate students from Asia who are interested in pursuing scientific research and potentially continuing toward a PhD. Selected scholars will have the opportunity to conduct full-time research projects at Kyoto University, one of the world’s leading institutions for science and biotechnology.

The internship will take place from June 5 to August 6, 2026, spanning eight weeks, and participants will be assigned to one of Kyoto University’s departments or interdisciplinary research areas, depending on their interests and availability. Eligible fields include Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Biotechnology, Biopsychology, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Immunology, Medical Pharmacology, Molecular Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Medicine, Molecular Pharmacology, Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Pathology, Physiological Psychology, Physiological Science, Statistics, Toxicology, and Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology.

The program is fully funded, covering economy-class airfare, accommodation in Kyoto, and a stipend of 180,000 yen to help with living expenses. Beyond research, Amgen Scholars will participate in seminars, lab visits, poster sessions, and mentoring programs, gaining practical skills, research experience, and access to a global network of peers and professionals.

Applicants must be undergraduate students from Asian universities who have completed at least their first year of study and will continue their undergraduate program for at least one semester or quarter after the summer program ends. Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in English, a strong academic record, and an interest in pursuing a PhD.

Required documents include an academic transcript, a statement of purpose, proof of English proficiency, and two recommendation letters. Applications must be submitted online, and all supporting materials should be uploaded before the deadline.
