Balochistan Sees Almost 30,000 Residents Overseas for Employment in Five Years

Over the past five years, 29,813 individuals from Balochistan have moved abroad for employment, according to data disclosed in the National Assembly. The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis provided a written response outlining country-wise figures for Balochistan residents who left the province in search of jobs during the period under review.

Saudi Arabia emerged as the leading destination, with 12,770 people from Balochistan securing employment there. The United Arab Emirates followed with 8,141 workers, while Qatar and Oman attracted 3,806 and 3,225 individuals respectively. Bahrain received 632 workers from the province.

Beyond the Middle East, Balochistan residents also migrated for work to a range of other countries. Japan was listed as a destination for 323 workers, China for 204, the United Kingdom for 105, Australia for 72, Kuwait for 64, Malaysia for 42, New Zealand for 33, the United States for 29, Kyrgyzstan for 23, Italy for 24, Zambia for 21, Canada for 19, and Korea for four. The documents also noted one additional worker in Japan.

In addition to these destinations, 275 individuals moved to various other countries, reflecting a diverse spread of labor migration beyond the primary Middle Eastern destinations.
