Samsung Electronics plans to significantly expand the use of artificial intelligence across its mobile devices by doubling the number of products equipped with AI features powered by Google’s Gemini. The South Korean technology giant aims to increase the total from around 400 million smartphones and tablets to nearly 800 million devices by 2026, strengthening its position in the global artificial intelligence race. Samsung co-CEO T M Roh said the company intends to rapidly integrate AI across all products, functions and services, marking a major strategic shift as demand for AI-driven consumer technology accelerates. As the world’s largest supporter of Google’s Android ecosystem, Samsung’s expanded adoption of Gemini is expected to provide a strong boost to Google as it competes with OpenAI and other rivals for consumer AI users. The company is also seeking to regain its leadership position in the global smartphone market, where it faces intense competition from Apple and fast-growing Chinese manufacturers. Beyond mobile phones, Samsung plans to extend AI-powered services across televisions and home appliances, creating a more connected and intelligent consumer ecosystem under Roh’s leadership. Samsung’s push comes as Google recently launched the latest version of its Gemini AI model, highlighting strong performance gains across industry benchmarks. Competition in the AI sector has intensified, with OpenAI accelerating its own development efforts and launching new models in response. Roh believes consumer adoption of AI will continue to grow rapidly, noting that awareness of Samsung’s Galaxy AI brand has surged dramatically over the past year, reflecting rising interest in AI-enabled devices worldwide.
