Samsung Achieves Successful 6G Network Test With Ultra-Fast Downloads

Samsung has successfully completed testing a key technology expected to be central to future 6G networks, conducting the trial in collaboration with KT Corporation. The experiment focused on eXtreme multiple input multiple output (X MIMO) technology in the 7GHz band, achieving a peak download speed of 3Gbps using an ultra-high-density antenna system. The setup incorporates four times the number of antennas compared to previous designs without increasing the overall equipment size, maintaining physical dimensions similar to earlier hardware.

X MIMO is considered a core component for 6G networks, with the 7GHz band favored for its balance between capacity and coverage within the millimeter wave spectrum. During testing, researchers transmitted eight data streams from a base station to a user device, while KT Corporation simulated real-world outdoor network conditions to ensure accuracy. Though 6G development remains in its early stages, Samsung’s successful trial demonstrates progress toward next-generation mobile network infrastructure and highlights the potential for significantly faster wireless communication in the coming years.
