Apna Ghar Housing Loan Disbursements Surpass Rs. 100 Billion
The government's low-cost housing finance scheme has released over Rs. 104 billion to 17,697 families, with loan disbursements rising 404 percent since June 2026.

The Prime Minister's Apna Ghar Program has crossed a major milestone, with housing loan disbursements exceeding Rs. 100 billion under the government's flagship affordable housing initiative. According to figures shared by Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, the program had released Rs. 104 billion to 17,697 families as of October 30, 2026.
Disbursements have grown sharply in recent months, rising 404 percent since June 2026, when the total stood at Rs. 21 billion. The program has received 220,715 applications, of which 90,405 have been approved, an approval rate of about 41 percent. The total value of approved loans has reached Rs. 533 billion, up 269 percent from Rs. 144 billion in June.
The Apna Ghar Scheme was launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in April this year as a nationwide effort to widen access to affordable housing finance for low and middle income families. It is backed by a government allocation of Rs. 3.2 trillion and, over five years, aims to finance the construction of 500,000 homes across the country.
Under the scheme, borrowers can access housing loans of up to Rs. 10 million, repayable over 20 years, at a subsidized fixed markup rate of 5 percent for the first 10 years. After that period, market rates apply. The financing covers both the purchase and construction of residential properties.
The program is being implemented through participating commercial banks, Islamic banks, microfinance institutions and the House Building Finance Company, giving borrowers a range of channels through which to apply.
The latest figures suggest momentum is building, though disbursements still represent a small share of the total value of approved loans, indicating that a large pipeline of approved financing has yet to be released to borrowers.
