Apple has announced that more than 100,000 apps have already been optimized for the iPhone Duo, roughly two weeks after the foldable smartphone started reaching customers. The company said thousands of additional optimized titles are being added to the App Store each day as developers update their software to take advantage of the foldable screen.

Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, said developers have adopted the new device quickly. Among the apps Apple highlighted as now supporting the foldable are Microsoft Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint and Word, along with Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, Netflix, Zoom and Amazon Prime Video. Other optimized titles include Etsy, Goodnotes, Halide Mark III, the NBA and NHL apps, Fantastical, Flighty, the MLB app and SmartGym.

Apple marks these apps with a "Made for iPhone Duo" badge on their App Store pages when viewed on the device. The company said apps built with standard SwiftUI and UIKit components can adapt to the iPhone Duo's displays automatically, while new APIs let developers create custom layouts and adjust their apps based on the foldable's hinge positions.

To support developers, Apple has held more than 50 in-person workshops across 19 cities over the past month, drawing more than 2,000 attendees. The outreach effort appears aimed at encouraging faster updates as the company works to build a strong software ecosystem around its first foldable phone.

Despite the progress, many of the millions of titles available on the App Store are not yet fully optimized for the iPhone Duo. Older apps can still run on the device, but some do not fill the inner display properly, leaving unused space around the interface. Google Maps is among the latest apps to receive an update for full compatibility.

Apple expects developers to keep releasing optimized versions of their apps at an accelerating pace as the install base of the device grows. The company's focus on app readiness reflects how important software support has become for foldable devices, where poorly adapted apps can undermine the appeal of the larger screen.
