Toronto police have named 23-year-old Daijohn Richards as a suspect in the violent break-in at the Bridle Path mansion of MAC Group CEO David Morton. The incident, which occurred early Thursday morning, involved masked intruders who ambushed the family and demanded valuables.

According to authorities, Richards is believed to have been accidentally shot in the shoulder by one of the other two suspects during the chaos. He later sought treatment at St. Joseph's Health Centre, where staff reported his injuries to police. He was discharged late Thursday morning and is now wanted on multiple charges, including three counts of discharge firearm with intent, three counts of aggravated assault, robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, and break and enter.

The attack took place around 3:45 a.m. when three suspects, all believed to be around 20 years old, entered the six-bedroom home through an upstairs entrance. They held up Morton, 75, his wife Doriana Zohil-Morton, and their two adult daughters, Maggie and Cristina. During the altercation, Morton and his daughters were shot, while his wife was viciously attacked with a hammer.

All three suspects managed to escape and remain at large. Police have not yet linked Richards to the crime scene earlier that morning, citing insufficient evidence at the time. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.

The violent nature of the home invasion has shocked the affluent Bridle Path neighborhood and raised concerns about security in one of Toronto's most exclusive areas. The Morton family is reportedly recovering from their injuries, and the community is left grappling with the audacity of the crime.
