The Punjab government has launched a Provincial Anti-Narcotics Force to strengthen efforts against drug trafficking and protect youth from substance abuse. The force has been deployed across all nine divisions of Punjab, with specialized teams formed at police station levels that include officers from various government departments. These teams will conduct coordinated operations targeting drug dealers.
In Lahore, a dedicated special court under Additional Sessions Judge Ramzan Khichi has been established to expedite pending drug-related cases and ensure faster legal proceedings. The central police station of the force has been set up in Harbanspura, with personnel already posted and two prosecutors, Shabbir Ahmed Khan and Sajid Saeed Bhatti, appointed to oversee effective case follow-ups.
Authorities stated that the new Provincial Anti-Narcotics Force will intensify operations against drug traffickers and accelerate anti-narcotics initiatives across Punjab, aiming to curb substance abuse and strengthen law enforcement in the province.
