The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced that the new moon of Ramadan 1447 AH is expected to be born on February 17 at 5:01 pm Pakistan Standard Time, increasing the likelihood of moon sighting on the evening of February 18.

According to SUPARCO’s astronomical assessment, the moon’s age at sunset on February 18 will be approximately 25 hours and 48 minutes, a duration considered highly favorable for visibility. The space agency added that the time between sunset and moonset along Pakistan’s coastal areas is expected to be around 59 minutes, offering suitable conditions for observing the crescent with the naked eye.

Based on these astronomical parameters, the first day of Ramadan 2026 in Pakistan is likely to fall on February 19. However, the official announcement regarding the start of the holy month will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan after verifying testimonies from across the country.

Ramadan is a sacred month in Islam marked by fasting from dawn to sunset, increased prayers, spiritual reflection, and charitable giving.
