Karachi Traffic Police is taking a futuristic step in traffic management by deploying robots to issue electronic challans under the city’s ongoing E-Tracks system. This initiative, announced by DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah, introduces a third method of automated traffic enforcement aimed at improving road discipline and reducing violations.

Starting next month, “No Parking” and “No Two-Lane” signboards will be installed across key roads, including busy areas such as Saddar and Tariq Road. The robots will patrol these routes at speeds of approximately 20 kilometers per hour, scanning vehicles in real time. Any vehicle violating parking or traffic rules will automatically receive an e-challan through the system, ensuring swift enforcement without manual intervention.

DIG Shah highlighted the effectiveness of the E-Tracks system so far, noting that within just two weeks of implementation, nearly 50,000 motorists in Karachi were fined for various traffic violations. The addition of robots is expected to further enhance compliance, reduce congestion, and make the city’s traffic management more efficient and technologically advanced.

This move reflects Karachi Traffic Police’s commitment to leveraging smart technology for safer and more organized roadways, combining automated enforcement with strategic monitoring to tackle chronic traffic issues in Pakistan’s largest metropolis.
