Karachi commuters are set to see major changes on key city routes as the Karachi Traffic Police implements a comprehensive traffic reform plan aimed at reducing accidents and enhancing road safety. DIG Traffic Karachi, Peer Muhammad Shah, outlined the upcoming measures during a briefing for business leaders at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Starting in December, motorcycles will be directed into dedicated bike lanes along Shahrah-e-Faisal, one of Karachi’s busiest corridors. Authorities expect this initiative to lower the frequency of two-wheeler accidents while ensuring smoother traffic flow for cars, buses, and commercial vehicles. The reform is part of a wider strategy to make daily commutes safer, more predictable, and efficient for millions of residents, including office workers, families, delivery riders, and commercial drivers.

The traffic department emphasized that the success of these measures depends on public cooperation. Effective enforcement requires road users to follow traffic rules, respect lane designations, and support the city’s broader road safety initiatives. The reforms aim to create a more organized and disciplined traffic environment, ultimately improving commuting experiences across Karachi.
