The Punjab provincial administration has taken a historic step against environmental violations by demolishing 2,471 brick kilns and sealing an additional 2,483 for failing to comply with environmental standards. This decisive action reflects the government’s commitment to curbing air pollution and enforcing strict regulations across the province.

Authorities have now geo-tagged all 7,891 brick kilns in Punjab, ensuring continuous monitoring to prevent illegal or non-compliant operations. The initiative allows regulators to track kiln activity in real time, ensuring adherence to environmental laws and reducing harmful emissions.

As part of the crackdown, the government imposed fines totaling Rs. 285 million, sending a clear message of zero tolerance toward industries that compromise air quality. Officials emphasize that this move is aimed at protecting public health, promoting sustainable industrial practices, and mitigating the impact of particulate matter and other pollutants on the environment. The initiative is being hailed as one of the most comprehensive measures to regulate the brick kiln industry in the region.
