The Punjab Agriculture Department has officially launched the Wheat Yield Competition 2025–26 across the province, aiming to encourage higher wheat productivity and recognize top-performing farmers. According to department officials, the initiative will provide substantial rewards, including tractors and cash prizes, to farmers who achieve the highest yields. At the provincial level, winners will receive high-powered tractors: an 85-horsepower tractor for first place, a 75-horsepower tractor for second, and a 60-horsepower tractor for third. District-level winners will be awarded cash prizes of Rs1 million for first place, Rs800,000 for second, and Rs500,000 for third. The competition is open to both male and female farmers who own at least five acres of cultivable land. Joint landholders are also eligible, and tenants or contract farmers may participate after verification of their documents by the Tehsil Committee. Application forms can be obtained from the offices of the Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) and Agriculture Officer (Extension) in all tehsils or downloaded from the Punjab Agriculture Department’s official website. Photocopies of completed forms will also be accepted. Certain individuals are not eligible to participate, including members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, Senators, their family members, government employees in grade 17 or above, all Punjab Agriculture Department employees, and progressive farmers serving on divisional or district committees. The deadline for submitting applications is January 31, 2026. Farmers seeking guidance can contact the Agriculture Helpline at 0800-17000 between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. The competition will be conducted at both district and provincial levels, providing a structured platform to incentivize wheat productivity and recognize excellence in farming practices throughout Punjab.
