Iran has offered Pakistan unprecedented support, promising a "blank cheque" to help Islamabad address challenges with India and Afghanistan, signaling a rare and strong show of regional solidarity. Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's National Security Council and a senior aide to Iran’s Supreme Leader, made the announcement during an interview with a local news channel following his visit to Islamabad. He stated that Iran considers Pakistan "very dear and honourable" and is prepared to provide support whenever Pakistan deems it necessary. Larijani’s visit comes amid heightened regional tensions, including evolving dynamics with Afghanistan and ongoing challenges along Pakistan's eastern and western borders. During his trip, he held extensive talks with Pakistan’s leadership, meeting the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional security, and international developments, reflecting Iran's commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan. The diplomatic engagement follows an improvement in Iran-Pakistan relations after the recent 12-day conflict involving Iran and Israel, which also saw US involvement. Pakistan’s measured diplomacy and support for Tehran during that period earned widespread appreciation in Iran, contributing to Larijani’s offer of extensive support. In his statements, Larijani highlighted that Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian had issued directives to remove all economic barriers between Iran and Pakistan during his recent visit. He confirmed that the Supreme National Security Council would lift any remaining restrictions, emphasizing that Tehran imposes "no limitations on cooperation with Pakistan." Larijani also called for "greater dynamism and practical action" from both sides and noted that mechanisms are being put in place to ensure follow-up on these decisions. During a meeting at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, Larijani met with COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to discuss regional security, bilateral cooperation, and ways to enhance Iran-Pakistan engagement. Director General ISI Lt. General Asim Malik and other senior officials were also present. The COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region and emphasized the importance of closer coordination with Iran on counterterrorism and border security initiatives. Larijani praised Pakistan’s "vital role" in regional peace and reiterated Iran’s determination to deepen strategic, political, and economic cooperation with Islamabad. Both sides agreed that sustained dialogue and practical collaboration are essential to navigating regional challenges and achieving long-term stability, highlighting a shared vision for stronger bilateral relations in the years ahead.
