Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to launch a joint police training exchange programme as part of broader efforts to enhance professional cooperation and strengthen security ties. The understanding was reached during a high-level meeting in Riyadh between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif. Both sides reviewed ongoing security collaboration and discussed expanding institutional coordination to address emerging regional challenges.

The meeting also covered the legal status of Rohingya Muslims living in Saudi Arabia. Officials from both countries agreed to maintain regular dialogue on the issue through the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Interior Ministries Working Group, which is scheduled to convene next month for further consultations.

As part of his regional engagements, Naqvi also met with Qatar’s interior minister to explore opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation. Their discussions focused on coastal security, counter-narcotics measures, and capacity-building initiatives. Naqvi expressed appreciation for Qatar’s assistance in establishing a new firing range at Pakistan’s National Police Academy and extended an invitation for the minister to visit Pakistan, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration in security and law enforcement.
