Rawalpindi has implemented an advanced traffic monitoring system using drones and a citywide camera network to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations more effectively. Chief Technology Officer Farhan Aslam explained that drones will patrol congested areas, allowing traffic wardens to respond quickly to violations such as underage driving, riding without helmets, ignoring one-way signs, and other risky behaviors. The city’s e-challan system, integrated with the Safe City Command and Control Centre, demonstrated its efficiency by issuing 600 fines within just four days of activation. To further strengthen monitoring, over 2,000 high-definition cameras have been installed across 359 strategic locations. This extensive surveillance network aims to reduce traffic accidents, ensure safer travel for citizens, and provide continuous oversight on major roads throughout Rawalpindi. Go back |
