The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has informed the public that its mobile device registration service will remain temporarily unavailable this weekend due to scheduled maintenance work by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The downtime will impact the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), which is used for verifying and registering mobile phones entering the country.

According to the announcement, the service interruption will begin at 10:00 PM on Saturday, 6 December, and continue until Sunday evening, 7 December 2025. During this period, users will be unable to register new mobile devices or complete verification-related processes through DIRBS.

PTA has advised travelers, mobile phone buyers, and individuals planning to register their devices to complete the procedure ahead of the scheduled shutdown to avoid inconvenience. The authority added that the temporary outage is necessary to facilitate FBR’s system upgrades, which are aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring smoother operations in the long term.

The telecom regulator appreciated public cooperation and assured that services will be restored immediately after the maintenance is completed. PTA also encouraged users to stay updated through its official communication channels for any additional announcements or changes to the schedule.
