Turkish MP Burhan Kaya Turk praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, noting that her pace of work is “faster than Türkiye.” A Turkish parliamentary delegation met with Maryam Nawaz in Lahore to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties, enhance economic cooperation, and promote collaboration on environmental and parliamentary matters. Both sides emphasized the importance of developing stronger institutional links and working together on flood management, clean transportation, forest conservation, and climate-smart infrastructure projects. During the meeting, the Turkish MP expressed admiration for Pakistan’s founding father, Quaid-e-Azam, and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, reflecting the deep respect and friendship between the two nations. Maryam Nawaz welcomed Türkiye’s support during recent floods and acknowledged its interest in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones, highlighting shared values, mutual brotherhood, and the importance of increasing bilateral trade to a target of $5 billion.
