Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has taken significant steps to improve identity services for overseas Pakistanis by expanding its global presence and enhancing digital access. New facilitation counters have been established at Pakistani embassies in Montreal and Vancouver in Canada, Milan in Italy, Manama in Bahrain, and Amman in Jordan. An additional counter is set to open soon in Rome. These new locations complement existing NADRA offices in the UAE and other Gulf countries, making it easier for Pakistani expatriates to access identity-related services without the need to travel back home.

According to a NADRA spokesperson, this global expansion is part of a broader effort to modernize the authority’s operations and ensure more efficient and secure service delivery for Pakistanis living abroad. In addition to physical offices, NADRA is increasingly focusing on digital solutions to make identity management more accessible. The Pak Identity mobile application allows users to carry out a range of services remotely, such as renewing ID cards, verifying biometrics, and booking online appointments. This app is especially helpful for those unable to visit NADRA offices in person, offering a convenient and secure alternative.

The latest reforms also include citizen-friendly measures implemented under the guidance of the Ministry of Interior. One notable change is the waiver of fees for CNIC cancellation after a person’s death, intended to ease the legal and financial burden on families dealing with inheritance and pension claims. Another key update is the launch of the "Proof of Life" feature, which allows pensioners experiencing fingerprint issues to verify their status online, eliminating the need for in-person verification at NADRA centers.

Through these upgrades, NADRA is streamlining identity verification and documentation processes, aiming to provide fast, accurate, and user-centric services. The continued expansion of both physical infrastructure and digital platforms underscores NADRA’s commitment to serving citizens globally with greater convenience, transparency, and technological innovation.
