The main construction work on Islamabad’s T-Chowk Flyover has been completed nearly two months ahead of its original schedule, according to officials from the Capital Development Authority. The 1.1-kilometre-long flyover has been built at a cost of Rs 1.4 billion and is designed to significantly improve traffic movement between G.T. Road and Islamabad Expressway, particularly for vehicles entering the capital from the Lahore side.

The project was initially scheduled for completion by February 19 but was finalized within just 90 days, reflecting an accelerated construction pace. While the primary structure is now complete, minor finishing work remains to be carried out before the flyover is formally inaugurated and opened to the public.

Similar to the recently completed Shaheen Chowk underpass, the T-Chowk Flyover experienced a cost increase of around 15 percent. Officials said the additional expenditure was approved in accordance with PPRA rules and was required to incorporate extra traffic lanes, improved turning points, and U-turn facilities to better manage traffic volume and future demand.

CDA officials highlighted that the early completion of the project demonstrates improved planning, coordination, and execution capacity within the authority. They also credited strong administrative oversight and leadership, including the support of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for ensuring timely decision-making and uninterrupted progress on the project. The flyover is expected to ease congestion, reduce travel time, and enhance overall connectivity for commuters traveling through one of Islamabad’s busiest corridors.
