Pakistan, in partnership with WWF-Pakistan and relevant federal and provincial authorities, is developing a comprehensive five-year national strategy to protect the endangered Indus River dolphin. The initiative aims to conserve this iconic freshwater species by focusing on habitat restoration, sustainable river management, and strengthened law enforcement.

The strategy includes measures to boost dolphin populations, rehabilitate river ecosystems, and engage local communities in conservation efforts. Scientific research and monitoring programs will track population trends and ecological health, guiding adaptive management practices. By implementing these initiatives, Pakistan seeks to ensure the long-term survival of the Indus River dolphin while preserving the nation’s freshwater biodiversity.
