Pakistan has officially granted Kyrgyzstan access to the Arabian Sea, providing the landlocked Central Asian nation with a direct route to international markets. This move coincides with the signing of 15 comprehensive agreements between Islamabad and Bishkek, covering a wide range of sectors including trade, energy, agriculture, ports, customs, education, defence, mining, and cultural exchange.

The accords are designed to boost regional connectivity and facilitate efficient, cost-effective shipping for Kyrgyz exporters through Pakistani ports such as Karachi, Port Qasim, and Gwadar. Officials highlighted that this arrangement will significantly reduce shipping costs, enhance trade logistics, and create new opportunities for Kyrgyz businesses to reach global markets.

During the signing ceremonies in Islamabad, leaders from both countries described the agreements as the beginning of a “new chapter” in bilateral relations. Pakistan committed to supporting Kyrgyzstan in expanding trade and developing key infrastructure projects, including energy corridors linking Central Asia to Pakistan. These initiatives are expected to drive substantial growth in bilateral trade in the coming years.

The visit by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov marks the first state visit by a Kyrgyz head of state to Pakistan in over two decades, underscoring the increasing importance both nations place on economic cooperation, regional connectivity, and long-term strategic partnerships.
