The tentative schedule of public holidays in Pakistan for 2026 has been shared, with the final official list to be released by the Cabinet Division closer to the new year. Several dates, particularly Islamic holidays, are subject to confirmation based on moon sightings. According to the proposed calendar, the year will begin with Kashmir Day on February 5, followed by Eid-ul-Fitr, which is expected to bring three days of nationwide holidays from March 21 to March 23, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. In May, Labour Day will be observed on May 1, and Youm-e-Takbeer is likely to fall on May 28. Eid-ul-Adha is expected to provide a three-day holiday starting May 27, subject to confirmation. Muharram-related holidays are tentatively scheduled for June 25 and 26, coinciding with Ashura. Pakistan’s Independence Day will be celebrated on August 14, while Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) is expected on August 26. Other proposed holidays include Iqbal Day on November 9, Quaid-e-Azam Day, and Christmas in December. December 26 is expected to be a restricted holiday applicable only to Christian employees. Authorities have emphasized that the dates for Islamic holidays will be confirmed through official moon sightings, and the federal government will issue the complete and final public holiday notification for 2026 in the coming months.
