Punjab to Seal Non-Compliant Wedding Halls by January 31 Over Air Pollution; Suction Hood Installation Mandatory

The Punjab government has ordered all wedding halls, marquees, and banquet venues across the province to install suction hoods by January 31 to reduce smoke and air pollution. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), these venues produce significant fumes, grease, and particulate matter during events, contributing to public health hazards and worsening smog conditions.

Authorities have warned that any venue failing to comply with the directive will face strict enforcement measures, including sealing, under a zero-tolerance policy. Venue owners are required to ensure proper installation and ongoing maintenance of exhaust systems over all cooking units before the deadline to meet environmental standards and safeguard public health.
