Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized that youth education and skills training are key drivers for Pakistan’s economic progress, highlighting that the government is prioritizing initiatives in this sector. Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad on Tuesday, he pointed out that Pakistan is home to the third-largest freelancing workforce globally, underlining the untapped potential of the nation’s young population. The finance minister noted that a significant portion of Pakistan’s population comprises young people, and by providing targeted skill-based training, the government aims to empower them as a major economic force. He stressed that one of the country’s primary challenges is the lack of discipline and results-oriented focus, which needs to be addressed to harness the potential of the youth effectively. Aurangzeb also discussed the shift from traditional public financing toward public-private partnerships, stating that such collaboration can lead to sustainable economic development. Special emphasis, he added, is being placed on integrating young women into the workforce, recognizing their pivotal role in driving inclusive growth and contributing to Pakistan’s economic resilience.
