Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has reviewed the progress of the Kareemabad underpass project, a major infrastructure initiative with an estimated cost of Rs3.8 billion, and expressed concern over delays affecting its timely completion. During the inspection, officials informed him that approximately 85 percent of the construction work has already been completed.

Authorities said the remaining portion of the project is largely dependent on the relocation of utility lines belonging to K-Electric. Once the shifting of these lines is completed, the underpass is expected to be fully operational within about a month. However, the pending utility work has emerged as a key bottleneck in finalizing the project.

To address the issue, Commissioner Naqvi has called a meeting with senior management of K-Electric to resolve the delays and ensure swift coordination. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner Central to closely monitor the situation and accelerate all remaining work so the project can be completed without further setbacks.

The commissioner emphasized that all hurdles must be removed on a priority basis, noting that prolonged delays are causing significant disruption to traffic flow in the area and negatively impacting nearby businesses and residents. He underlined that the underpass is a critical project aimed at easing congestion and improving connectivity, and its timely completion is essential for public convenience and economic activity in the surrounding localities.
