Punjab Wildlife Rangers have rescued more than 35,000 animals and birds between March 2024 and September 2025 as part of an intensified crackdown on illegal wildlife activities across the province.

According to official data, authorities registered 3,749 cases against violators during this period. Fines amounting to Rs766 million were imposed, while Rs695.85 million was recovered through legal settlements, reflecting stricter enforcement of wildlife protection laws.

The rescued wildlife included a wide range of species. Among animals, rangers saved bears, lions, tigers, pangolins, and various species of snakes. Numerous bird species were also recovered, including sparrows, mynas, vultures, and falcons, many of which were found trapped or kept in illegal captivity.

Most of the animals and birds were seized from unlawful traps, private possession, or unauthorized breeding facilities. Chief Wildlife Ranger Mubeen Elahi said that all rescued wildlife received proper medical care and rehabilitation before being released back into their natural habitats where possible.

He added that alongside enforcement actions, the department is running public awareness campaigns to educate communities about wildlife conservation and the legal consequences of illegal hunting and trade. Elahi emphasized that strict action against violators will continue to protect biodiversity and preserve Punjab’s wildlife for future generations.
