The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise Department has announced plans to introduce specialised and unique vehicle number plates, adding a new dimension to vehicle registration in the province. As part of this initiative, an auction for these exclusive number plates will be held on January 27 in Peshawar. According to officials, the special number plates will feature names of prominent tribes, well-known families, and key regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Tribal name plates such as Wazir 1, Mehsud 1, Khattak 1, and Mohmand 1 will be offered, alongside family name plates including Khan, Gandapur, Durrani, Kundi, Swati, Arbab, Khalil, Afridi, and Yousafzai 1. In addition, region-based number plates carrying names like Malakand, Abbottabad, Kohat, and Bannu will also be auctioned. The Excise Department has fixed the base price for each unique number plate at Rs 1 million. Interested bidders will be required to submit Rs 100,000 as bid security to participate in the auction. Officials clarified that if a successful bidder fails to pay the remaining amount within the stipulated timeframe, the bid security amount will be forfeited. Authorities said the move is aimed at offering distinctive and exclusive registration options to vehicle owners while also generating revenue and promoting modernization within public sector services. The initiative reflects the department’s efforts to adopt advanced systems and introduce innovative features in vehicle registration across the province. Go back |
