Residents of Karachi experienced the coldest night of the current winter season as temperatures plunged sharply across the city, bringing chilly conditions to large areas of Sindh. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) recorded the lowest temperature at six degrees Celsius in the Jinnah Terminal area, while minimum temperatures remained low across multiple localities. The Met Office reported that cold and dry weather will persist in most districts of Sindh over the next two days. Westerly winds are expected to affect northern parts of the country from January 18 to 20, which could influence weather conditions in Sindh. The PMD also noted the possibility of rainfall in Karachi and other areas as the approaching weather system moves closer, followed by another cold spell once it passes. December 2025 saw rainfall 34 percent below average, contributing to the continuation of dry and chilly conditions. Meanwhile, moderate to dense fog is expected in several districts, including Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam, and Mohenjodaro, potentially reducing visibility during night and early morning hours. Other parts of Sindh also recorded near-freezing temperatures overnight, highlighting the persistence of cold conditions across the province. Go back |
