Internet Services in Pakistan May Face Disruption on January 15

Internet services across Pakistan are expected to face possible disruption on January 15 due to scheduled maintenance work on one of the country’s submarine cables. Internet service provider Nayatel informed its customers that an unavoidable maintenance activity is planned to begin around 2 PM on January 15, 2026, and could last for up to eight hours, potentially causing internet slowdowns nationwide. The company did not specify the exact location of the submarine cable involved or whether the maintenance is related to an existing fault.

This potential disruption would mark the second major instance of degraded internet services in Pakistan within two weeks. On January 1, 2026, users across the country experienced widespread internet outages caused by an issue with one of Pakistan’s upstream connectivity providers, which resulted in slow or unavailable internet services for more than two days. The repeated incidents have raised concerns among users and businesses that rely heavily on stable internet connectivity for daily operations.
