The Petroleum Division has launched a modern track and trace system to combat smuggling at petrol pumps and across the fuel supply chain. This system is designed to monitor fuel movement in real time and enhance oversight at all levels of distribution.

The Rahguzar mobile application provides verified information on legal petrol pumps, allowing consumers to identify approved and registered fuel stations and avoid unlicensed outlets.

To ensure effective monitoring of oil tankers, a joint digital track and trace network has been developed in collaboration with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority and the Punjab Information Technology Board. Fuel tankers, terminals, and retail outlets are being connected through this integrated system, enabling better supervision and accountability.

Automated tank gauges and digital nozzles are being installed at petrol pumps to ensure accurate tracking of fuel quantity and quality. Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions is introducing a new online portal to digitize the bidding process for oil and gas exploration and production blocks, improving transparency and efficiency.

The Petroleum Division has also activated an explosives track and trace system to monitor explosive materials. The system allows real-time tracking across the supply chain, with the first two phases already successfully completed.

In addition, the Sindh government announced financial support for traders affected by fire incidents. To strengthen enforcement against illegal petroleum products, amendments to the Petroleum Act of 1934 now include provisions for heavy fines and confiscation in cases involving the illegal sale or transportation of petroleum products.

This combination of digital monitoring, legal reforms, and consumer-focused tools aims to improve transparency, prevent smuggling, and protect both consumers and legitimate businesses in the petroleum sector.
