The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has collected Rs. 828 billion in Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) from July to December, marking a significant increase compared to the previous fiscal year. Officials attribute this rise to stronger customs enforcement and nationwide operations aimed at reducing smuggling of petroleum products.

During the July to November period, total PDL revenue reached Rs. 706 billion, with Rs. 146 billion generated through improved legal fuel supply and Rs. 138 billion collected due to price adjustments. These measures highlight the FBR’s efforts to strengthen compliance and boost government revenue from the petroleum sector.

As part of the crackdown on illegal fuel trade, authorities have sealed 1,442 unauthorized petrol pumps across the country. Despite these efforts, around 142 illegal outlets continue to operate without authorization. Customs enforcement teams conducted operations in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, targeting areas with high rates of fuel smuggling.

Officials expect that ongoing enforcement and monitoring will further increase PDL collections, improve compliance with petroleum regulations, and curb the illegal trade of petroleum products nationwide. This approach not only strengthens government revenue but also promotes a more regulated and transparent fuel market in Pakistan.
